Today marks the ninth anniversary of the formation of the National Police (PNTL) in Timor-Leste. On this day in 2000, the first intake of police officers were accepted into the Police Academy, then known as the Police College. The new General Commander Designate of the National Police, Longuinhos Monteiro, will also be sworn in today.
